The Alps of the Piedmont
We have searched the Alps to find a destination for perfect ski touring. Deep in the upper valleys of the mountains along the border with France our certified guides and mountain hotel owners have created a haven for those searching for alpine beauty, great ski terrain and excellent cooking and lodging. They live in ski touring paradise: remote, wild and free of the mechanics and commercialism of ski resorts. The Mediterranean provides the moisture and the terrain above 5,500' cold winter air to produce copious amounts of great snow. The region provides everything from extreme, steep couloir skiing to more moderate alpine slopes descending into the trees in the valleys below.
Our lodging in small, privately owned and operated mountain "rifugios" is more luxurious and comfortable than the generic term suggests. Great cooking and local products emphasize the ethic of the Slow Food movement founded in nearby Bra. Wine lists feature Barolo and Barberesco wines, as well as Nebbiolos, Barberas and Dolcetto's of the Langhe. Several local craft breweries are featured. Down comforters, fresh linens, and ensuite bathrooms provide a level of comfort unsurpassed in the Alps.
Please contact us to discuss coming as an individual or small private group. We limit tours to eight people and ensure terrain and guiding for intermediate to expert skiers.
