Today's ride up the Colle Fauniera from Demonte, Italy

This spectacular ride is 60 km with 2,000 meters of gain in a remote alpine valley on the border with France. It links the Stura and Grana valleys and is a pristine example of small, out of the way passes we seek out in the Alps. There are a few remote bars to stop for a coffee and panino. The native people are warm and inviting – hearding their cattle and sheep to graze on the valleys alpine pastures. The region has many formaggiera from which you can buy artisanal cheese, such as Castlemagno produced only in the upper regions of Valle Grana. Spectacular cycling!
