France - Burgundy & Côte d’Azur
A week cycling and exploring these two iconic French destinations
Our seven day adventure and culinary journey offers one the chance to savor the bucolic french countryside of Burgundy, it’s famed wines and cooking and then travel to the Mediterranean on the TGV to experience the Cote d’Azur. We will cycle through the vineyards and countryside of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or wine region on small, paved secondary roads that get us far away from the traffic and thrum of the valley. Our lodging at the hotel Le Montrachet in the heart of the village of Puligny-Montrachet is a peaceful and luxurious oasis. Spa facilities, comfortable rooms and an excellent restaurant and extensive wine cellar make it a perfect home to base ourselves out of as we visit wineries, museums, restaurants and shops throughout the valley and the nearby cities of Dijon and Beaune to experiencethe open air weekly markets.
Midway through the week we will board the TGV for a high speed rail journey to the Côte d’Azur seaside village of Giens. Located on a peninsula that juts out into the Mediterranean, the region abounds with great roads to cycle into the hills above the sea. Our lodging in an old world seaside hotel with delicious food, provençal rosé wines from nearby vineyards and a seaside salt water pool to relax in the afternoons make it an idyllic retreat and we have access to a boat to explore the islands just off shore!
