Southern France - Provence and Mont Ventoux

September 15-21, 2018 from $3,200 custom dates available

Provence is our spiritual cycling home. We fell in love with the iconic challenge of climbing Mont Ventoux set against the backdrop of the culture, cuisine, wine and the mystique of Mediterranean French life. This region has it all; thousands of kilometers of perfectly paved country roads laced through the Provençal landscape, lavender fields, sweeping vistas, architectural gems in every town, and the occasional bistro that pops up at the perfect time to make a day out on the bike sing.

We have a range of lodging options for your week with us to suit your budget and preference. We know a few small, privately owned and owner-managed inns that exemplify French country hospitality. Charming staff, a relaxed and casual atmosphere welcoming to cyclists, a secluded pool, an inviting breakfast terrace. In a word, bliss.

We also have two private properties that can accommodate large parties of up to twelve people. These are modern, fully appointed, have multiple bathrooms, large eat in kitchens and dining areas and a pool. We are a five minute walk to the village of Malaucène and its cafés, boulangerie, and shops, featuring a weekly Provençal market on Wednesdays perfect for acquiring pottery, crafts, cheese, charcuterie and wine from local artisans. Also within walking distance is the region's premier spa for cycling-specific massage, health and beauty treatments.

Food and wine is an integral part of France, and Provence does not disappoint! We are in the heart of the southern Rhône appellation. Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Séguret are a few of the many villages we'll visit to sample wines and bring some back to enjoy with dinner on the terrace. Local produce, meat and fish from the nearby Mediterranean provide the ingredients for regional cooking. We are always on the lookout for good dining to share with you when you arrive.

Our weeks in Provence can be individually tailored to your cycling preferences. Besides the challenge of Mont Ventoux, which can be climbed via three routes, we have many itineraries to suit your riding preferences. We often support two levels of riding with two guides. A cultural guide can be arranged for excursions for individuals who would prefer time off the bike while not disrupting the day's group cycling plan.
